This collaboration between Yutaka Fujiwara, director of the vintage clothing shop "BerBerJin" in Harajuku, and Marbles was realized out of a desire to widely share the appeal of vintage denim, which has become difficult to obtain due to soaring prices.
The result is domestically produced denim that is thoroughly committed to vintage details.
The G-jean has one flapless pocket and four buttons. It expresses simplified details due to restrictions on materials and metals at the time.
It is available in only one size, 46 inches, for an oversized fit. The back yoke and a seam that overlaps to form the letter "T," commonly known as a "T-back," are also reproduced. This is a detail found only in vintage denim 46 inches or larger, which is currently seeing soaring prices in the vintage market.
Vintage processing creates a moderately worn look. On the right side of the back of the denim pants, "match strike marks" that appear on vintage denim are reproduced through processing.
Green herringbone fabric, seen in wartime models, is used for the pocket lining, with meticulous attention to even the smallest details.
Denim pants based on a model from the early 1940s. This model was created with inspiration from the denim owned by Mr. Fujiwara.
A key feature of the straight-leg pants is the buckle-back specification. This is a detail that symbolized pre-war pants and was removed due to material controls during World War II.
Based on Mr. Fujiwara's desire for people to "grow their denim into their own unique color," this item is a dark indigo one-wash specification. Over time, whiskers and fades will develop as you wear them, creating your personalized denim.
